Dr. Akíntólà Najmud-deen Akinjide has declared his candidacy for the Ife Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, promising to complete abandoned federal projects, strengthen traditional institutions, advance social welfare and create opportunities for Ife youth.
Akinjide made the declaration in a formal campaign statement addressed to both indigenes and non-indigenes of Ife territory, describing his entry into the race as a call to service rooted in the values, needs and aspirations of the Ife people.
He anchored his campaign in the Yoruba proverb “Ile lati ke’so ro’de,” charity begins at home arguing that true representation in Abuja must be rooted in the constituency itself.
On his agenda, Akinjide identified the completion of abandoned federal projects in Ife communities as a central priority, committing to pursue their delivery if elected to the House of Representatives.
He pledged to strengthen traditional institutions and preserve the cultural heritage of Ife, advance the welfare of families, elders and the vulnerable, and create real opportunities for young people through job creation, skills development and direct support programmes.
He closed his declaration with a direct appeal to the people of Ife, describing the relationship he seeks as one of partnership and mutual trust. “Let us walk this journey together,” he said. “Let us build an Ife that works for all of us.”
