The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has affirmed the election of Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde as the duly elected representative of Oyo Central Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, reports thegazellenews.com
The three man Appeal Court panel sitting in Lagos on Thursday, 9 November, 2023, dismissed the appeal of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka.
The Court of Appeal also dismissed the appeal of the Labour Party and its candidate in the National Assembly Elections of Saturday, 25 February, 2023.
The Appeal Court stated that there was no merit in the appeal filed by the PDP and Ilaka as well as the Labour Party and its candidate, thus confirming the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal which had earlier upheld the election of Senator Akintunde.
Senator Akintunde of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment.
