Leaders of the Arewa, Igbo, North Central and South-South communities in Lagos State have pledged massive votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The pledge was made at a meeting held on Saturday, 12 September, 2026 in Lagos.
Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the Arewa group, Arc Kabir Ahmed Abdullahi described Hamzat’s emergence as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate as the outcome of years of diligent service and political goodwill built across the state.
He added that the party’s candidates would also benefit from the record of the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“Your emergence, Hamzat, as a consensus governorship candidate of the APC in Lagos State is the result of your diligent service and a welter of political IOUs that you have built over the years,” Abdullahi said.
“A vote for you is a payback for the many good things you have done for the good people of Lagos State.”
On his part former Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Environment and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe predicted that Hamzat’s election would be a walkover, projecting that he would poll the highest number of votes ever recorded by a governorship candidate in the state’s history.
A former executive member of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammad Kpatako urged the community groups to work assiduously to raise voter turnout and boost the overall votes tally on election day.
The leaders pledged to jointly mobilise non-indigene communities across Lagos State to secure a total APC victory in 2027.
The meeting was attended by Architect Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi, leader of the Arewa Community and a former state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development; Engineer Joe Igbokwe, leader of the Igbo Coalition; and Alhaji Muhammed Sharu Kpatako, leader of the North Central community.
Responding, Dr Hamzat assured the leaders that his administration will serve all as there would be no discrimination in his administration.
He commended them for showing open support for APC and its candidates assuring that the party would not disappoint.
“We have a record of serving the people and I assure you that we won’t relent on this,” he said.
