Militias on Thursday, 8 August, 2024 raided Ayati community in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State killing at least 40 people. A youth leader in the area, who preferred anonymity for security reasons, confirmed the incident to an online medium. “More than 40 people were killed and many were injured. Nigeria’s hope of winning a medal at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games has been dashed after Tobi Amusan failed to secure a place in the final of the women’s 100m hurdles. Amusan finished third in the semi-final missing out on automatic qualification. The 27-year-old Ogun-State born athlete also finished 9th overall in the final standings.
