Gunmen killed at least 10 people and abducted about 40 others after attacking Tofa community in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the attack in a post on X on Monday, 7 September, 2026
According to the post, the attackers invaded the community during the night, opened fire on residents and moved from house to house.
At least 10 residents were confirmed killed, while several others sustained injuries.
Local sources told Bakatsine that between 38 and 40 residents were taken away, although the exact number of abductees was still being verified.
“The attackers were also said to have rustled a large number of livestock and looted properties belonging to residents before leaving the community,” Bakatsine wrote.
The raid left Tofa in shock as families searched for missing relatives and counted their losses.
The incident further highlights the persistent insecurity in Rabah LGA, where farming communities have come under repeated attacks.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the attack.
