Brighton on Saturday, 27 September, 2025 ended Chelsea’s 12-match unbeaten home run in the English Premier League(EPL) at Stamford Bridge as they beat  10-man Blues team 3-1.

Argentinian international, Enzo  Fernández,  had given Chelsea the lead in the first half, heading home from a Reece James cross after good work by Moisés Caicedo. The hosts looked comfortable going into the break.

But game  turned bad for the hosts in the  second half when Trevoh Chalobah was shown a red card for denying a goalscoring chance, leaving Chelsea to play with 10 men for the second week in a row.

Brighton piled on the pressure and were rewarded in the 77th minute when Danny Welbeck headed in Yankuba Minteh’s cross.

The striker later struck again in stoppage time to complete his brace, after Maxim De Cuyper had already nodded in his first goal for the club to make it 2-1.

The result gave Brighton their first big away win of the season and left Chelsea frustrated, with fans blaming another costly red card for the collapse.
