After a long wait, the Federal Government of Nigeria finally caved in to pressure and doled out a cash price of N200,000 to Nafisat Abdullahi, winner of the TeenEagle global competition.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa in company with the Minister of State, Prof Suiwaba Ahmad, at a ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, 2025 recognised Ms Nafisat and other winners of the global competition.

Dr Alausa, who described the winners as beacon of excellence and inspiration to Nigerian youths, said the federal government is laying the groundwork for a stronger foundation to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.
He also stated that President Bola Tinubu is committed to his vision to ensure that every child in the country rises to the highest level of academic attainment achievable.

Earlier, the Atiku Foundation rewarded Nafisat and her teammates, Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli, with fully funded scholarship for their remarkable achievement at the global event.
17 year old Nafisat Abdullahi Aminu from Yobe State defeated over 20,000 teenagers from 69 countries to emerge winner in English Language skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global finals held in London, UK earlier in the month.
It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu came under fire from stakeholders in the education sector for hesitating to reward Nafisat and her team mates, after hefty cash rewards of $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars) to each member of the Victorious Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) competition and the D’Tigress basketball team.
The victorious duo also got national honours and housing largesse to go with their cash awards.
The Super Falcons won the WAFCON competition for a record ten times with the victory in Morocco while the D’Tigress won the AfroBasket competition for a record fifth consecutive time with the win in Angola.
