Four Die In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Multiple Road Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ogun Sector Command has confirmed that no fewer than least four persons died and one injured in a multiple road crash that occurred around Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The crash, which happened at about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, 8 August, 2024 involved an Isuzu mini truck with registration number T1079L, a Toyota Camry with registration number EPE200GK, a Honda Accord, and a BUA trailer with no registration number.

The spokesperson of Florence Okpe, who confirmed the accident to man online medium on Friday, 9 August, 2024, said the total number of people involved was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing in this report

According to Okpe, the cause of the crash to brake failure, which led to a loss of control and caused the vehicle to ram into a car from behind while in motion.

 “The crash occurred at about 19:35 hours around Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, involving four vehicles. The number of people involved has not yet been ascertained, but one person (a male adult) was injured, while four persons (one male adult and three female adults) were reported dead in the multiple crashes,” the command image –maker said

She also disclosed that the injured victim was taken to AZ Zonecare Hospital, Magboro. The body of one of the deceased was deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue in Ibafo, while the other three bodies were taken away by their families.

Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and cautioned motorists to avoid speeding, pay more attention to vehicle routine checks, and correct defects.
