Governor Bala Mohammed Mourns With Former President Buhari’s Family Over Loss

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed has on behalf of his family, the government, and the entire people of Bauchi State, mourns the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London after a protracted illness.

According to a press release issued by Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor, which was made available to journalists Sunday, 13 July, 2025, “The news of the former President’s passing has plunged the nation into mourning, as we come to terms with the loss of a towering figure whose life was marked by unwavering service, patriotic devotion, and a resolute commitment to the unity, security, and advancement of our great country, Nigeria 

“President Muhammadu Buhari was a statesman of uncommon integrity, discipline, and simplicity. His military and political career spanned decades of selfless sacrifice, including his service as Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985, and later as Nigeria’s democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. His legacy is indelible, characterized by a strong anti-corruption stance, infrastructural renewal, agricultural revolution, and efforts to reposition Nigeria’s economy for growth and self-sufficiency”.

Governor Bala Mohammed recalls with reverence his personal and professional interactions with the late President Buhari, describing him as “a patriotic elder statesman, firm in his convictions, calm in demeanor, yet unwavering in his commitment to national unity and good governance. Governor Bala Mohammed acknowledges President Buhari’s efforts in stabilizing Nigeria and promoting democratic values, especially during a time when the nation faced multiple challenges on various fronts.

The release stated that “The late President’s humble lifestyle, and his belief in transparency and accountability serve as enduring examples for leaders at all levels of government. His stoic demeanor and ability to maintain personal discipline, even at the height of political power, are attributes worthy of emulation by current and future generations.

“Bauchi State holds a special place in the history and journey of President Buhari, and his memory will remain evergreen in the hearts of our people. His passing is not just a loss to his immediate family or to the people of Katsina State, but a monumental loss to the entire nation and Africa at large.

“As we mourn, we also celebrate the life of an extraordinary Nigerian whose footsteps will continue to guide our nation’s pursuit of justice, equity, and unity. We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, rewards his sacrifices, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus”.

Governor Bala Mohammed then extended his heartfelt condolences to his family, the Government and people of Katsina State, the National Council of State, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and indeed all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

He concluded that “May his soul rest in perfect peace”.
