A group of youth in Kebbi state under aegis of Youths in Defence of Justice and Fairness has chided the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for glaringly using available power within its disposal to continue to detain former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Chika Malami.
The group in a statement on Thursday, 25 December, 2025, signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Hassan na Balkisu Mustapha described the Commission’s refusal to obey Court order mandating them to grant Malami interim bail as brutal and highest disrespect for Nigerian courts.
“We view the action of the Commission as monumental disobedience to constituted authority and most worrisome to us is denying receipt of court order served them,” the group said.
The statement added that it has been following developments at all stages between EFCC and Malami’s legal team how they both submitted themselves to scrutiny to the commission but EFCC driven by personal vendetta continue to twist facts against the suspect holding him incommunicado for over 14 days without trial.
“We are worried about his safety therefore watching closely because we are not satisfied with his stay in the Commission custody,” the statement said.
Dan Balkisu added that, their personal investigations revealed that Malami has provided all necessary proof of innocence and that every suspect under investigations is entitled to bail since his case is not criminal but civil
The group admonished the Commission to toe the path of justice and implement the interim bail granted Malami.
