Group Urges FG To Investigate Alleged Illegal Land Revocations In FCT

A non-governmental organisation, Crusaders for Family Rights (CFFR) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to investigate allegations of illegal revocation of plots of land and properties in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The group also called on the FG to return all alleged illegally rebooked lands to their original owners.

CFFR stated this via a press statement on Thursday, 4 December, 2025. The statement was signed by its President, Mr. Adebayo Lawson.

Lawson accused the Minister of FCT, Nyisome Wike of collaborating with land grabbers to revoke people’s properties and sell to them.

“We have evidence that Minister Wike has been collecting money freely from land grabbers to sell those properties to them.

“The land grabbers make use of both serving and retired high ranking police officers, military men and thugs to intimidate, attack, arrest, and detain innocent land owners and victimise them to take over possession of their properties,” the CFFR President alleged.

He stated further that, “our investigations revealed that the Chief Security Officer to the FCT Minister, a serving police officer, Mr. Muhammed Iya Musa is in charge of coordinating a syndicate consisting of security and government agencies and land grabbers to carry out demolitions and to grab people’s properties illegally. He uses the AIG Zone 7 and the IGP Monitoring (X-Squad) to carry out these criminal activities on behalf of the FCT Minister. A notorious land grabber, Mr. Richard Ricardo coordinates the development and sale of the properties. He is said to have more than 500 police and court cases across police departments and courts, in and around FCT.

“We are calling on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency, constitute an investigation into the criminal misconduct of these officials and to bring them to book before it is too late!

“Under the Nigerian law, the FCT Minister does not have the power to revoke people’s properties only to reallocate them to whom he pleases. He can revoke a property only for over-ridding public interests and not for corrupt resale!
These criminal activities are already impacting negatively on the value and credibility of land titles in the FCT since Certificates of Occupancy are revoked and re-issued illegally with some financial institutions in dilemma as to the titles in their possessions,” the CFFR alleged.
