The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has stressed the need for government to prioritize the establishment of Special Courts saddled with the responsibility of hearing only corruption cases in the country.
This, the group believes will ensure quick dispensation of corruption related cases that will in the long run curb the menace in Nigeria.


ICAN President, Chief Davidson Alaribe stated these during an interview with newsmen after a courtesy visit to the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi at his palace in Yaba area of Lagos state.
He said that ICAN is deeply worried at various tactics deployed by those facing corruption charges adding the Special Courts when established should ensure no corruption case last beyond three years in the country.

Chief Alaribe disclosed that ICAN remain commited to sustaining high standard in the profession adding that they also have a process of absorbing Applicants with lower grades to go through their exams.

The Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Owolabi Adeniyi lamented how the people had allowed corruption to be part of their normal life.
He said it was unfortunate that some Nigerians are in alliance of entrenching the menace saying the next generation must wake up to the challenge of curbing it in our society.
His Royal Highness, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi who is the Patron for ICAN Lagos Mainland District also noted that he was happy that the number of districts under the body increase during the tenure of the present leadership.
He also narrated the story behind the name Igbobi-Sabe about a woman suffering from stillbirth and saved from it when she settled in the town.

Oba Owolabi Adeniyi who described the town as relatively small, unique and very inspiring added that the last time he received ICAN team was some years back after his installation.
Olori Mosunmola Adeniyi expressed gratitude to the team for the honour accorded the tradition and culture of the land.
In his vote of thanks, the immediate Past Chairman of ICAN in Lagos Mainland, Alhaji Sofiu Ahmad said they were excited with the warm reception given to the team by the Oba.
The Executive of ICAN and the Management were at the Palace to pay homage to Oba Onisabe of Igbobi-sabe as they visit YABATECH, the Alma mata of their 60th President.
