The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Thursday, 10 September, 2026, joined distinguished royal fathers, political leaders, stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the Ikorodu Division to warmly welcome the APC Governorship Candidate for the 2027 election and incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, alongside the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, during their visit to the division.
The delegation was received at the Ayangburen Palace, Ikorodu, where prominent traditional rulers, council chairmen, political office holders, party leaders, community leaders and other stakeholders from across the division gathered to honour the party’s flag bearers. The gathering provided an opportunity for stakeholders to demonstrate unity, solidarity and a shared commitment to the continued progress and development of Lagos State.
The event also witnessed the presence of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; Director-General of the KOH-DSJ Campaign Organization, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Sulaiman (GOS); as well as other APC candidates and leaders across the Ikorodu Division. Their presence further underscored the importance of collaboration among the traditional institution, political leadership and the state government in promoting peace, development and good governance.
The visit to the royal fathers also highlighted the strategic role of the traditional institution in maintaining peace, preserving cultural heritage and values, promoting community development and fostering harmony among residents. It provided a valuable platform for traditional and political leaders to strengthen their relationships and reaffirm their collective commitment to advancing the interests of the people of the Ikorodu Division.
Hon. Benson’s participation further demonstrated his administration’s commitment to grassroots engagement and active participation in the political and developmental affairs of the division. His presence also reflected Imota LCDA’s continued alignment with the broader vision of the APC, as well as its commitment to strengthening party structures and stakeholder relationships ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The Council Chairman commended the APC leadership at the state level for sustaining meaningful engagements with traditional institutions and grassroots stakeholders. He described the engagements as essential to strengthening the partnership between government and traditional authorities, preserving the cultural identity of communities and building a common vision for the sustainable growth and development of the Ikorodu Division.
The Council boss further reaffirmed that Imota LCDA would continue to support all APC candidates and work closely with traditional institutions, political leaders, community leaders and other stakeholders towards securing victory for the party at the polls. He also reiterated the collective ambition of the division to achieve a target of 250,000 votes for the APC in the 2027 elections in Lagos State, stressing that sustained grassroots mobilization, unity and effective stakeholder engagement would be crucial to achieving the target.
Other party leaders and stakeholders across the Ikorodu Division also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all APC candidates, from the top to the bottom of the ballot. They emphasised the need for unity, effective grassroots mobilization, continuous engagement with residents and collective action towards consolidating the gains of the party across the division.
The welcoming ceremony therefore served as another demonstration of unity of purpose among political leaders, traditional rulers and stakeholders across the Ikorodu Division. They expressed optimism that continued collaboration among the various stakeholders would further strengthen peace, development and prosperity across the division, while reinforcing the collective resolve to deliver a strong electoral performance for the APC in the 2027 elections.
