Imota LCDA Chairman Presents N5.047bn Budget Proposal To Legislative Arm

The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, has presented the Y2026 Appropriation Bill to the 6th Legislative Arm of the Council at the Legislative Chamber. 

The budget, valued at ₦5.047 billion, is termed, ‘Budget of Strategic Impact’ and aimed at fostering grassroots development across all sectors.

Hon. Benson explained that the proposal was carefully designed to meet the needs and aspirations of residents, based on extensive consultation with key stakeholders across the four wards in Imota LCDA.

Benson announced a total budget size of ₦5.047 billion, with Recurrent Expenditure at ₦3.223 billion (64%) covering salaries, pensions, gratuities, and essential services, while Capital Expenditure stands at ₦1.823 billion (36%), allocated to infrastructure renewal, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, social welfare, security, tourism, and sports development.

The Council Chairman affirmed that the 2026 proposal prioritizes human capital development, infrastructure development, education, primary healthcare improvement, environmental protection, social welfare, and rural economy sustainability that will promote economic growth and improve the well-being of Imota LCDA residents. 

He emphasized that these initiatives are strategically spread across all the wards of the LCDA to bring government closer to the people and appealed for continued civic responsibility, especially tax compliance, noting that collective effort remains crucial for the success of his administration’s “Hi-SEE’’ Transformation Agenda.

During proceedings, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Adeshina Ademola Oluwole, expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for consistent support and for presenting a well-structured, and development-focused budget. He reiterated that the legislature remains committed to collaborating with the executive team of BSA-BOJ for the residents’ benefit.

Hon. Adeshina noted the lawmaker’s readiness to conduct a thorough, speedy, and constructive review of the appropriation bill, aligning with the statutory duties, while maintaining loyalty to the administration, upholding the principle of good governance, and approving projects that will deliver maximum benefit for Imota LCDA residents.

The event was graced by key stakeholders, including the Vice-Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; Deputy Leader, Hon. Sunday Aberuagba! the Majority Leader, Hon. Jelili Busayo; the Chief Whip, Hon. Saidat Orewale; Apex political leaders led by Alhaji M.K Sanni, ably represented by Mr. Kunle Sanni, Rev. (Dr.) Col Bolaji Titilola Onafowokan rtd; former Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja; the LGA Party Chairman, Hon. Ramoni Akinyemi; former Leader of the Council, Hon. Babatunde Oredoyin; Chief of Staff, Aremo Kamilu Ogunnowo; LGEA Secretary, Mr. Olowu Mutiu; LGEA Treasurer, Hon. Biliaminu Iyanda; LGEA Woman leader, Alhaja Mosunmola Sanni; LGEA Youth leader, Alhaji Showemimo Gbolahan, and among others.
