Kebbi state branch of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), has thrown its weight behind the statement made by its National president Comrade Audu Titus Amba in Kebbi state during the just concluded Nigeria workers rights summit held recently in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state on his support for the upward review of the minimum wage for workers.
The NUT Chairman Kebbi state, Comrade Sarki Zaki (Sk) in a statement signed by him on Saturday, 8 August, 2026, described the statement made by the National Chairman as bold, courageous and timely saying the president statement at the summit on the struggle for Nigeria workers rights and an uncompromising stand on the upward review of the current national minimum truly reflects the views and stands of Nigerian workers.
Zaki added that the National President’s bold statement before the gathering of stakeholders in the labour industry indicated his resolve to pursue vigorously all the rights of workers fearlessly and holistically.
“We are pleased with his presence at the summit and we are hundred percent behind his stand for workers rights and their push for upward review of National minimum wage along side the National president of Nigeria labour congress NLC,” Zaki said.
The teachers’ body commended the NUT General Secretary, Dr Clinton Ikpitibo for participating in the just concluded Nigeria rights of workers amplifying same struggle for decent work conditions of workers and a push for a new National minimum wage across the country and at levels.
Comrade Zaki urged all unions in the country to rally behind NUT and NLC to demand good working conditions for Nigerian workers and a living wage that reflects current reality in the country.
Comrade Titus Amba had during the Nigeria workers rights summit in Kebbi state at the podium demanded review of minimum wage and decent work conditions for all categories of workers with a passionate call to governments at all levels to ensure the implementations of the upward review of new National minimum wage being pushed by NLC and NUT he spoke as the representative of NLC National President Joe Ajaero at the summit.
