The Lagos State Government has commended Brown’s Table, a non-governmental organisation, for donating cardiac monitors to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across parts of the state, describing the intervention as a boost to grassroots healthcare delivery.
The donation was made through Health District III at a presentation ceremony held in Victoria Island on Saturday, 8 August, 2026 with the equipment earmarked for deployment to PHCs in Ibeju-Lekki, Eti-Osa, Epe and Onigbongbo, as well as facilities under Health District VI.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Health District III, Dr Monsurat Adeleke, said the intervention emphasised the importance of public-private collaboration in addressing healthcare needs, describing the gesture as timely support for improving healthcare delivery.
She explained that government could not achieve improved healthcare delivery alone, stressing that support from organisations, social groups and other stakeholders would complement government’s efforts to provide better healthcare services to the citizenry.
Adeleke disclosed that the monitors would be deployed to facilities where they were most needed and monitored to ensure proper usage, while also urging residents to enrol in the state’s Ilera Eko health insurance scheme, explaining that wider insurance coverage would help reduce the burden of out-of-pocket healthcare spending.
Speaking further, the Chairman of Brown’s Table, Kunle Adeniji, said the donation was intended to improve access to timely healthcare at the grassroots, expressing pride in the organisation’s partnership with the Lagos State Government through Health District III and Health District VI.
He urged the districts to ensure proper use and maintenance of the equipment so that more lives could be saved, adding that the NGO remained committed to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Lagos residents.
The donation forms part of ongoing efforts by the state government to deepen collaboration with non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to strengthen healthcare services at the primary-care level.
