Another fatal auto crash took place at the Lagos-Ibadan express way on New Year Day, Thursday, 1 January, 2026, reports thegazellenew.com
The accident occurred around NASFAT inward Lagos and it involved a truck and a 18-seater commercial bus, thegazellenews.com reports.
Thegazellenews.com recalled that the latest auto crash is coming three days after an earlier one involving a jeep and another truck at the Sagamu area of the same Lagos-Ibadan Highway.
In that particular accident, former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua was lucky to escape with bruises but two of his friends lost their lives.
On the Thursday, 1 January, 2026 crash, eye witness told thegazellenews.com that the truck was trying to make a U-turn at the NASFAT from the Lagos side back to inward Ibadan, when the commercial bus, reportedly on high speed rammed into the truck.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3pm on Thursday.
The Volvo yellow truck with registration number AKM 547 YQ was packed full of empty bottles and as it tried to make a U-turn from the Lagos axis into the Ibadan axis, was hit by the 18-seater Mazda bus with registration number APP 943 XP resulting in the fatal accident.
The commercial bus was carrying 21 passengers at the time the accident occurred.
Eight passengers: Four adult males, two adult females and two infant females lost their lives in the accent while 11 passengers: five adult males; four adult females and two infant females were injured. Two passengers escaped unhurt.
Rescue efforts were carried out by TRACE personnel, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the police and OGASES.
The injured victims were taken to various hospitals: OGASES took four to the state hospital in Abeokuta while seven others were taken to FAMOBIS hospital.
Both the truck and the bus were taken to RCCG police station in Ibafo.
