Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized a group of terrorists following exchanged of gunfire in Bassa village, Shiroro LGA of Niger State.
The operation comes as part of ongoing efforts to secure vulnerable communities in the state facing threats from armed terrorists.
A Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama made this disclosure in a post on his X handle on Sunday, 15 September, 2024.
Makama disclosed that the gallant efforts of the troops prevented the attack on the community, resulting in the elimination of several insurgents.
The security expert stated that the footage from the operation shows the aftermath of the clash, with the bodies of the terrorists killed in the attack on display.
Makama added that sources informed him that military authorities will soon provide further details as they are presently monitoring the area to prevent any potential reprisals and ensure the safety of residents.
