The Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Wednesday, 10 December, 2025, commissioned Shanu Street and Balogun Street, two major rehabilitated roads executed under his administration.
The commissioning was performed by the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who arrived with an impressive delegation of APC State Working Committee members. Their presence underscored the significance of the project and the confidence the party leadership has in the Dauda-led administration.

Also in attendance at the Shanu Street commissioning was the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, who commended the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development.
In his address, Pastor Ojelabi lavished praises on the Ikeja LG Chairman for “making the party proud by keeping his promises to the people and improving the quality of life in Ikeja.”
He urged residents to continue supporting the APC, assuring them that the party remains steadfast in its mission to deliver progress, prosperity, and people-centered governance.

The event attracted a distinguished gathering of political leaders, technocrats, and community stakeholders, including but not limited to: the Deputy Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK); the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore; party stalwarts led by the Ikeja APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun; ihe Immediate past Chairman of Ikeja LGA, Engr. Mojeed Alabi Balogun, FNSE; the immediate past Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Yomi Mayungbe; the Management Team of Ikeja Local Government, led by the Council Manager, Mrs. Taiwo Juliana Odubeko; and numerous other dignitaries.
Residents of Shanu and Balogun Streets expressed appreciation to Dauda, applauding his dedication to infrastructural renewal and his resolve to bring tangible development to every part of Ikeja. Many described the new roads as “a dream fulfilled” and a testament to an administration that listens, acts, and delivers.
