A strong succession signal emerged in Lagos as Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire formally presented Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Lagos State reports thegazellenews.com

Thegazellenews.com also reports that Princess Orelope-Adefulire is a prominent member of GAC, former Deputy Governor of Lagos state and currently Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs).

The presentation, held at a high-level political gathering attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, party elders and influential stakeholders, underscored growing alignment within the ruling party ahead of the next governorship contest.

The atmosphere, as reflected in the pictures, showed warmth, confidence and clear unity among top APC figures.

Orelope-Adefulire respected party leader, officially presented Hamzat to the gathering in what observers described as a symbolic but strategic endorsement.

Given her standing within Lagos politics, her public role in the process immediately added weight to the development.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire described Hamzat as a thoroughbred professional, highly committed politician and cerebral and intelligent administrator who possesses all the needed qualities to move Lagos forward and complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s presence beside Hamzat and Orelope-Adefulire further fuelled speculations of continuity within the party’s leadership structure.

Political analysts said the move could ease internal tensions, narrow the field of contenders and strengthen early mobilisation ahead of party primaries.

Hamzat, who currently serves as Deputy Governor, is widely regarded as an experienced technocrat with deep roots in governance.

Over the years, he has handled critical assignments in infrastructure, policy planning and public administration.

Furthermore, party insiders believe his calm disposition, loyalty and administrative competence have made him acceptable across several power blocs within the APC.

Although no formal declaration was issued at the event, the symbolism was difficult to ignore.

Responding, the First Lady commended the GAC and leaders of the party in Lagos making the state the leading light in peaceful conduct of election process in the country.

She commended GAC in the choice of Hamzat lauding the peaceful the process took place.
