The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Darma, has declared that voters in Katsina State will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, describing the votes as non-negotiable.
Darma made the declaration on Sunday, 20 September, 2026, during the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju Group (A4A) in Katsina, where he doubled as the state’s Coordination Committee chairman. The group, he explained, had formally declared its support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking further, Darma said the group was established to mobilise support for Tinubu’s administration and communicate its achievements and interventions to people across Northern Nigeria.
“This initiative was conceived by prominent Nigerians, including the National Security Adviser, former governors, ministers and former government officials. This group has the responsibility of coordinating and documenting the Federal Government’s projects and interventions across Northern Nigeria,” he said.
He explained that the initiative complemented the work of a government office known as the Office for the Coordination of Northern Projects, which was specifically tasked with compiling what the administration had done for Northern Nigeria.
“So that office has the specific task of putting together what this government did to Northern Nigeria. That office also felt it wise not only to coordinate the activities of the government in Northern Nigeria, but to also set up an organisation that will go to all parts of Northern Nigeria and tell the people what this government did for Northern Nigeria, and that our votes are meant only for him,” he said.
Darma disclosed that the group would extend its activities to different parts of the region to explain what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration. He stressed that the primary purpose of the Katsina meeting was to formally inaugurate the state coordination committee, comprising selected personalities drawn from across the state.
On the 2027 elections, Darma reaffirmed that members of the group remained firmly committed to supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Our votes for Tinubu in 2027 are non-negotiable,” he said.
