The New Media Directorate of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, has inaugurated 320 Digital Ambassadors comprising Chief Press Secretaries to Lagos Council Chairmen and social media practitioners, with the task of showcasing the scorecards of President Tinubu and the Lagos Promise Agenda of Dr. Kadri Hamzat to the people of Lagos and beyond.

They were equally mandated to serve as whistleblowers on challenges and issues affecting the people but awaiting government attention across the metropolis, for swift reaction and escalation where necessary.

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Damilola Sonayo James, performed the inauguration of the group at the Sobo Arobiodun Campaign Office in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

She said that President Tinubu is ready to consolidate the good work he started years back, while the state Governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, will deliver on the Lagos Promise Agenda.

She noted that information released by the group would shape the future of Lagos and the country at large, while urging members to conduct proper scrutiny before making such information public.

On his part, the Director-General of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, charged the Digital Ambassadors to always think outside the box when coming up with information that resonates with the people.

He disclosed that a huge percentage of Nigerians have access to social and new media, which is why the Campaign Council considers them crucial partners in the delivery of the 2027 election mandates.

According to him, “what is happening today was well utilised by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who used technology to convince Nigerians that he was in the sky when he was not, during the early days of politics in the country”.

Senator Obanikoro told those selected by the New Media Directorate to see themselves as part of history-making, while calling for the establishment of a Creative Department that would come up with content to win the hearts of the electorate.

The Deputy Director-General of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, confirmed that the team has the capacity to showcase the achievements of Mr President and sell other candidates of the party to the electorate.

He described the New Media Team as ambassadors of the President and Dr. Hamzat, while urging them to prepare the right answers for everyone on the choice of the candidates.

He urged them to educate the people across the divide on the social and economic impacts of every project already executed by President Bola Tinubu.

The Director of the New Media Directorate, Hon. Sesan Daini, pointed out that one of the assignments of the Digital Ambassadors was to drive campaign information to the grassroots.

He confirmed that the Rapid Response Team had been in existence for more than a month, monitoring social media platforms and responding swiftly. He added that the campaign had a good standing on social media.

According to him, the National Youth Council of Nigeria was also to mobilise the youth for the party, describing them as automatic foot soldiers for the party.

The Technology Officer at the Campaign Office, Otunba Awosanya, told the ambassadors that they must be on the same page with the Campaign Council and monitor everything being said about all the candidates, whether positive or otherwise.

He urged them to take charge of the social media space at all times, promising that they would be provided with content throughout to work with.

On his part, the National Youth Council of Nigeria’s representative, Comrade Victor Adogbajale, disclosed that their agenda was based on the 3Ps, which include publicity, productivity and professionalism in all ramifications.

He assured that they would complement the efforts of the government in the build-up to the polls, adding that the next phase of the Back to the Street initiative was for Nigerians to get their PVCs and vote wisely.

Saheed Tijani, who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Iba LCDA, said he was glad that they were carried along and given the opportunity to contribute their quota in the forthcoming general elections.

He made reference to the recognition given to youths through public offices, such as the Minister of Youth, while one of them is now a candidate in Kosofe Local Government Area.
