Operatives of the Cross River Police Command have arrested a 57-year-old farmer, Samuel Sunny Udoh, for allegedly killing two persons in Odukpani Local Government Area of the state, reports thegazellenews.com.
The Cross River State police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Saturday, 20 June, 2026C, said the command received a missing person report on May 25 from one Regina Akan Patrick, who reported that her husband, Akan Patrick, had gone to his farm in Okong community and failed to return.

She explained that her husband usually stays on the farm for about a week before returning home after completing his work, but all efforts to reach him after his departure proved abortive.
While stating that investigations by the police led to the arrest of the suspect, Eitokpah added that during interrogation, the suspect reportedly told police that in November 2025, two youths identified as Akan Patrick and one Mr Imoh allegedly confronted him at his farm, demanding 14 bags of cannabis sativa he was cultivating.
Udoh alleged that the duo came armed to intimidate him, but said community leaders intervened after he reported the matter, only to discover that his claims could not be substantiated.
According to him, the leaders ordered the release of the two men who had been tied during questioning.
The suspect further claimed that while accompanying them, a confrontation ensued and the men attempted to attack him, prompting him to push both into a river where they drowned.
He also admitted he did not report the incident to the police, saying he was involved in the illicit cultivation of cannabis sativa.
The state police image-maker said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
