Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Sunday, 21 June, 2026 expressed appreciation to voters in the state following his re-election in the governorship poll, describing the outcome as a clear message from the people reports thegazellenews.com.

Thegazellenews.com reported earlier that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Oyebanji of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) as winner of the state governorship election held on Saturday, 20 June, 2026.

According to INEC, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes across the state’s 16 local government areas.

He defeated his closest rival, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) who polled 40,533 votes, and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress,(ADC) who scored 12,872 votes.

Oyebanji also secured victory across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State, according to results of the poll.

In a post on his X handle on Sunday,21 June, 2026, Oyebanji said the scale of his victory reflected a strong vote of confidence from Ekiti voters across the state.

“The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” he wrote.

The Governor said he was “deeply humbled” by what he described as a clean sweep across all 16 local government areas, where he also claimed about 85 per cent of the popular vote.

“From our urban centres to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities,” he added.

Oyebanji noted that his renewed mandate placed greater responsibility on his administration to deepen development across all parts of the state.

“This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today, there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” he said.

He pledged to govern with humility, fairness and dedication, while thanking residents for their support.

“I pledge to honour this immense trust by continuing to lead with humility, dedication and fairness. Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us,” the Governor wrote.
