All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned politicians and their supporters against allowing political contests to create divisions among Nigerians, stressing that the bonds of brotherhood and national unity must remain stronger than electoral competition.
Yilwatda issued the warning on Sunday, 23 August, 2026, in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen as his Eid-ul-Mawlid message to Muslims and Nigerians, urging citizens to draw lessons from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly the virtues of compassion, tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence he said remain directly relevant to Nigeria’s current challenges.
“At this challenging moment in our national journey, these values offer us a pathway to healing, unity and renewed hope,” he said.
The APC chairman urged Nigerians to view the country’s diversity as a source of strength and resist all attempts to exploit ethnic, religious or political differences.
He was pointed in his warning ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that political differences should never be allowed to undermine national unity. “No political contest should destroy the bonds of brotherhood and national unity that bind us together,” he said.
He called on the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion to pray for lasting peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria, as well as wisdom and courage for the nation’s leaders.
“Despite our challenges, Nigeria remains a nation of immense talent, resilience and promise,” he said.
Yilwatda prayed for Allah’s blessings on families and communities across the country and wished Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid.
