Residents of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area of Lagos State were in joyous mood on Thursday, 24 April, 2025 as the administration of Rasaq Olusola Ajala unveils its welfare programme for the aged, widows and physically-challenged in the council area.
Speaking at the unveiling of the people-oriented project, the Chairman of the council, Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala stated that the programme is meant to put in place an enduring welfare programme to cover the interest of the aged, widows and physically-challenged in the council area.

“As an administration that has the intention of protecting the interest of all groups of people in the council area, we felt there is the need to put in place an enduring programme that will ensure that our aged fathers and aged mothers are taken care of,” he said.
Ajala told his audience that the beneficiaries were carefully selected and distributed among various interest groups spread across the council area.

Giving the details of the welfare programme aptly titled, ‘Odiolowo Cares’, Ajala stated that 500 widows, aged people and physically-challenged will be receiving monthly stipend of N20,000 from the council area, while another 500 will benefit from the health insurance programme initiated by the council.
According to Ajala, there is no condition attached to becoming a beneficiary except being a resident of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA.
Thus, beneficiaries were selected irrespective of their political affiliations, religious beliefs and their origins.
“Those in the health insurance category will enjoy free medical care from the council. They are free to go our hospitals, health care centres and get free medical care,” he said.

Ajala expressed appreciation to the residents for their overwhelming support for his administration which was extended to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We are grateful to you and like Oliver Twist, I want to urge not to relent in your support and prayers for us in Odiolowo, Governor Sanwo-Olu and President Tinubu,” he said.
The programme was coordinated by the council’s Community Development Committee (CDC) through the various Community Development Associations (CDAs).
Thus, the beneficiaries were spread among the various interest groups in the council area.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent lauded the Ajala administration for the gesture.
