Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated the state’s outstanding young athletes, coaches, and support teams on their historic performance at the World School Games Olympia 2026 in Doha, Qatar.
Lagos schools recorded an impressive medal haul across athletics, football, and swimming in the Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 categories, competing creditably against strong international opposition.

Grange School led with multiple gold medals in athletics and swimming, alongside a silver in Under-11 Athletics. Saint Saviour’s School secured gold in Under-11 Athletics and Under-11 Girls’ Football. Riverbank School claimed gold in Under-11 Boys’ Football and added silver medals in athletics. British International School and Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School also mounted the podium, underscoring the depth of sporting talent across Lagos schools.
“These achievements are a source of immense pride to the Government and people of Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said, adding that:
“They reflect the discipline and dedication of our young athletes and the steady revitalisation of our school sports ecosystem, supported by committed educators, coaches, parents, and administrators.”

The Governor said the Government remains steadfast in its commitment to investing in sports infrastructure, athlete welfare, and structured talent development pathways to ensure that Lagos State continues to produce champions capable of excelling on the global stage.
