Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended three commissioners for their absence at the State Executive Council meeting on Monday, 17 March, 2025.

The state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation,  Jude Okpor, who made this disclosure, said the affected commissioners failed to inform the appropriate authority of their inability to attend the meeting prior to the scheduled time.

Those affected are: Victor Chukwu, Commissioner for Environment; Solomon Azi, Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies; and Ikeuwa Omebe of the Ministry of Rural Development.

Speaking to newsmen after the state’s council meeting, Okpor said the governor had earlier warned against absenteeism and nonchalant attitude to work by public servants.

He added that the governor also directed that all affected commissioners would be relieved of all the privileges attached to their various offices during the period of their suspension.
