By Segun Adewale in Bauchi

Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State for the 2027 general elections, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has distanced himself or his campaign organisation from various campaign slogans, posters, billboards and other media linking him with candidates of other political parties at all levels.

He has therefore called on his supporters, political associates, media practitioners and members of the public to exercise restraint and ensure that all political communications, posters and public statements associated with him received appropriate authorisation before being circulated.

The Senator made the clarification yesterday following reports of posters bearing his image alongside candidates of other political parties at various levels, as well as public statements and policy positions allegedly being issued in his name without his consent or the approval of his authorised aides, particularly the Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Comrade Sabo Mohammed.

Shehu Buba Umar who is currently representing Bauchi South Senatorial District at the Senate, stated that he does not endorse, approve or authorise the placement of his posters alongside candidates of other political parties where such materials do not reflect the official candidates, structures or position of the PRP.

He warned that, “Any such poster or political material produced and circulated without my express approval should therefore not be regarded as representing my position or that of my campaign organisation.”

“As the PRP governorship candidate and a committed member of the party, I, Senator Shehu Buba Umar reaffirm my commitment to the principles of politics of conscience, integrity, accountability, discipline and due diligence,” he added.

He stressed that his political activities remain firmly anchored on promoting the interests of the PRP and its candidates at all levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He further urged supporters and political stakeholders to desist from making reckless, misleading or unauthorised statements on policies, political alliances, endorsements, campaign activities or other sensitive matters in his name.

He assured that all official positions concerning his campaign, political engagements and policy direction will be communicated through duly authorised channels.

The Senator also appealed to media organisations and Journalists to exercise professional diligence by verifying statements, posters, photographs and other political materials attributed to him or his campaign team before publication or broadcast.

He emphasised that the clarification is intended to maintain discipline, transparency and consistency within his political structure, while preventing misinformation, confusion and the misrepresentation of his political position before the people of Bauchi State

The Senator appreciated the continued support and confidence of the people of Bauchi State and calls on all supporters to remain calm, disciplined and committed to the PRP’s political programme as the 2027 elections approach.

The general public is therefore advised to rely only on official communications issued or authorised by Senator Shehu Buba Umar or his designated media and campaign representatives, as contained in a statement signed byComrade Sabo Mohammed, Special Adviser, Media and Communication to Bauchi South
