The Bayelsa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Warman Ogoriba, on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026 dismissed calls for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as routine opposition politics and insisting that the President has performed “above 90 per cent” since assuming office.
Ogoriba , who stated while addressing newsmen in Yenagoa, the state capital on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026, also addressed issues relating to the party’s preparedness for future elections, internal reconciliation efforts and the state of the economy under the APC-led administration.

Responding to reports that some APC members, including Joshua Maciver, had left the party over alleged marginalisation, Ogoriba maintained that the party’s reconciliation efforts had yielded positive results.
“Nobody is bigger than the party. I called Joshua Maciver immediately after my election as chairman. We tried to meet, but he chose to leave. Everyone has a right to choose any political party,” he said.
The former member of the House of Representatives noted that only one aspirant who lost during the party primaries had defected, which he said reflected the success of the APC’s unity and integration efforts.
“Integration is not an easy process, but we are doing very well. Today, both old APC and new APC members are working together. We are building a formidable party,” he said.
Ogoriba said the APC would campaign on the achievements of its governments rather than engage in attacks on political opponents.
“We are going to campaign on the achievements of the APC government. Everyone can see these achievements, especially in infrastructure. Civil servants and pensioners are being paid. No civil servant has been owed salaries since this government came on board,” he stated.
He cited the road project linking Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, as one of the administration’s major achievements, noting that the area had remained largely inaccessible by road for decades.
“Before now, if you wanted to go to Ekeremor, you had to drive through Delta State and then take a boat. Today, you can drive directly. When the road reaches Agge and the deep seaport becomes operational, everyone will see the benefits,” he said.
On calls for President Tinubu’s resignation amid prevailing economic challenges, Ogoriba argued that such demands were common in democratic societies.
“Even the President of America faces calls to resign. These things are normal in politics. If someone does not like you and you are in office, the person can ask you to resign,” he said.
The APC chairman rated Tinubu’s performance above 90 per cent, citing infrastructure projects, including the coastal highway initiative, and the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal.
“On the issue of rising cost of living, while prices are increasing, people also have more money in their pockets. Salaries are increasing.
“Look at the savings from subsidy removal and the increased allocations going to states. The President has challenged governors to explain how they are using the increased funds,” he said.
Ogoriba also announced that the Bayelsa APC had relocated to a larger secretariat located at 45 Isaac Boro Expressway, opposite Christ Embassy Church in Yenagoa, to accommodate its expanding membership base.
“We are moving from noise-making to strategy. The new office has a hall that can accommodate over 500 people and is one of the most beautiful APC offices across the nation,” he said.
According to him, the party intends to dedicate the facility through a religious service rather than hold a formal commissioning ceremony.
Commenting on the growing profile of the opposition National Democratic Coalition (NDC) led by former Bayelsa governor Seriake Dickson, Ogoriba expressed confidence that the APC remained well positioned to win future elections.
“We are not losing sleep because we know APC has what it takes to win elections. We do not want to discuss parties; we want to discuss issues and sell our candidates,” he said.
He assured residents of peaceful elections and urged eligible voters to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards and support APC candidates in future polls.
“We will take our candidates to every local government in Bayelsa and present them to the people. The results will speak for themselves,” Ogoriba said.
