Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has warned members of his congregation involved in internet fraud, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, to leave his church and worship elsewhere, insisting that their activities amount to killing people.
“If you are a Yahoo boy in this church, go to another church and give your offering. Because you are killing people. People have died because of Yahoo,” he said.
Ibiyeomie issued the warning during a church sermon on Sunday, 6 September, 2026 condemning the growing involvement of internet fraudsters within churches and cautioning Christians against associating with individuals engaged in the practice.
He explained that some fraudsters operate within congregations without remorse, despite living off money taken from unsuspecting victims.
“Do you know that there are Yahoo boys inside the church? They have no conscience. They Yahoo somebody and they are very happy in church,” he said.
The Pastor maintained that internet fraud should be regarded as stealing, regardless of how those involved attempt to justify or rationalise it.
“No matter how you put it, Yahoo is stealing. I don’t care how you paint it. Whatever you take that belongs to somebody else, that is not your own, is stealing. Yahoo is stealing,” he declared.
Narrating an incident to illustrate the devastating impact of internet fraud, Ibiyeomie disclosed that a university professor and electrical engineer had reportedly collapsed and died after losing his entire life savings to fraudsters.
“Every money he saved as a professor, all his savings, was taken,” he said.
Ibiyeomie urged members of his congregation who associate with internet fraudsters to distance themselves immediately, warning that the consequences of such associations could prove devastating.
“In case you are following such a person, separate from him now,” he said.
