Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has described the emergence of the new Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami, Gomo III, as Divinely ordained and the true choice of the people.

The Governor made the remarks when the Emir, accompanied by his council members and stakeholders of the Emirate, paid him a courtesy visit in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday to thank him for the appointment.
Governor Idris expressed delight over the visit, noting that the unity of Zuru and Yauri Emirates as Kebbi South remained a source of strength.

He emphasized that due process guided the approval of the Emir’s appointment.
“Leadership comes from God. I never knew him personally but approved his appointment because he was the popular choice of the people of Zuru.

‘ His emergence is ordained by God and endorsed by his people. I am happy I did what the majority of Zuru people wanted and desired,” the Governor stated.
Governor Idris reaffirmed that Zuru Emirate remained dear to his heart, assuring that his administration would continue to execute people-oriented projects.
He cited the ongoing Koko–Dabai road project, which he said would be completed ahead of schedule, as well as the renovation of Schools and Hospitals ‘ I have approved renovation of Zuru General Hospital , medical equipment would soon be installed’, he averred.
On security, the Governor pledged not to relent until peace has been fully restored, noting that many communities and farmers have returned to their homes.
He further vowed to remain focused in the development of the state despite the opposition’s campaign of calumny.
While eulogizing the late Emir, Alhaji Sani Sami, Gomo II, the Governor prayed for prosperity, Divine protection, and guidance for the new Emir.

Earlier, the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami, expressed deep gratitude to the Governor for his support and confidence in him.
He also appreciated the Governor’s concern for the late Emir during his medical treatment in London, as well as his developmental projects in Zuru Emirate, including the Koko–Dabai road, the construction of a Mega School for skill acquisition, and appointment of sons of the Emirate into government positions.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, General Muhammad Magoro (Rtd) and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, thanked the Governor for giving Zuru people the Emir they desired and commended his developmental strides.
Magoro particularly lauded the Governor’s compassion towards the late Emir during his illness.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, remarked that both Yauri and Zuru Emirates were united under the leadership of Kauran Gwandu.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of an award to Governor Idris by the Zuru Concerned Citizens Forum for his exemplary leadership.
