President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has been honoured as a Christian Youth Peace Ambassador by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN).

The recognition was conferred on Friday, 4 September, 2026 at the National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving in Abuja, where the youth wing highlighted Tinubu’s contributions to peace, youth development and national unity.

Tinubu was absent from the event, with the former National Chairman/President of YOWICAN, Belusochukwu Enwere, receiving the award on his behalf.

In a message of appreciation, Tinubu said the recognition came with a greater responsibility to support efforts aimed at empowering young Nigerians, strengthening peaceful coexistence and promoting national unity.

He described peace as more than the absence of conflict, stressing that it required justice, compassion, tolerance and mutual respect.

“Your commitment to empowering the next generation is both commendable and necessary at this important time in our nation’s journey,” he said.

Tinubu commended YOWICAN for encouraging Christian youths to take up responsible leadership roles and contribute to the development of their communities.

He urged young Nigerians to view the country’s religious, ethnic and cultural diversity as an asset rather than a source of division, and pledged to support programmes focused on youth empowerment and peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.

“Together, let us choose peace, promote love and build a Nigeria where every young person can dream, contribute and prosper,” he said.

The recognition came as the YOWICAN summit brought together Christian youth leaders and other stakeholders to deliberate on security, leadership and nation-building, holding in Abuja from September 3 to 5, 2026.
