Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has moved to curb insecurity in the state by banning all political activities and rallies.
The decision was made following the recent security breach in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast, Media and Public Affairs, who made this disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen, said the ban takes immediate effect.
According to Kaura, security agencies in the state have been directed to take action against any politicians or groups that fail to comply with this directive.
Governor Lawal emphasized that the political season has not commenced anywhere in the country, making this ban a necessary measure to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
The state has witnessed a surge in attacks by gunmen, locally known as bandits, who have been carrying out cattle rustling, mass kidnapping, and killings.
Unfortunately, none of the state’s 14 local government areas are free from insecurity.
