The Zenith Bank 2026 Team Tennis Tournament taking place at Ikoyi Club 1938 is fast getting to the climax with four teams cruising into semis on Wednesday night.

After three days of keen contest at the tennis courts of the elite club, the four teams, two each from the Red Group and the Blue Group, have emerged.

The Prestige Banking Team topped the Red Group with a total points haul of 80, with Diaspora Banking Team coming second with 76 points.

In the Blue Group, Zenith Aspire Team topped the group with a total of 78 points, while Zenith Zeca Team booked the second spot with 74 points.

The semi-final matches slated for today will see Prestige Banking Team taking on Zenith Zeca Team for a slot in the final. The other slot will be decided in the battle between Zenith Aspire Team and the Diaspora Team.

The contest with be decided in a best of three sets format, with two singles and three doubles matches to be played. Each singles match won will attract two points, while each doubles match attracts 3 points.

Commenting on the upcoming matches, the Chairman of the Tennis Section, Victor Onyenkpa, observed that the semi final matches will be decided not just on the basis of the skills of the players, but also on the strategy and playing combinations adopted by each team, to maximize its points haul. He sees a highly interesting and entertaining evening for all members and spectators at the Ikoyi  Club on Wednesday evening.

“These fixtures are too close to call, as in every good tournament. These four teams have shown that they know how to strategize and compete, to get the desired results. With the finals in their sights, you can be certain that every player will be giving their best. I am excited at the tennis spectacle that we will be witnessing this evening, and wish all the teams the best of luck”, Onyenkpa said.
