The Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Seyi Jakande, has been formally endorsed by the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) as the best-performing local government chairman in the country.
The historic declaration was made on Sunday, 23 November, 2025, during a strategic meeting between Hon. Jakande and the Forum of 36 States Chairmen of the NYCN, led by its National Chairman at the council secretariat in Lagos.

The meeting, convened to foster stronger relationships and deepen commitment to youth development and leadership mentorship, took a celebratory turn as the youth leaders, representing the voice of millions of young Nigerians across all states, unanimously affirmed Jakande’s exceptional performance in grassroots governance.
Comrade Ibrahim Adigun Olalekan, speaking on behalf of the forum, stated that the endorsement was the product of a nationwide assessment of local government administration.

“After careful monitoring and evaluation of governance at the grassroots level across the federation, we have found in Hon. Seyi Jakande a model of what leadership should be,” Comrade Olalekan declared. “His transformative projects, inclusive governance style, and unparalleled commitment to youth empowerment and welfare set him apart.
The endorsement places Hon. Jakande, a rising star in Lagos politics, on a national pedestal, potentially setting a new benchmark for local government administration in the country.
“I am profoundly humbled by this massive endorsement from the authentic leadership of Nigerian youth. This is not just a personal accolade but a challenge to do more,” Jakande said. “Our philosophy has always been that the government closest to the people must be the most effective. We have prioritized infrastructure, education, healthcare, and, most critically, creating opportunities for our youth, who are the engine room of any thriving society.”
Present at the meeting with the Chairman were the Leader and Councillors of the legislative chamber of the Council together with the Chief of Staff.
