The Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan has inaugurated a 5-man Bursary Committee reports thegazellenews.com
Members of the committee were inaugurated on Tuesday, 17 February, 2026, at the local government secretariat.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Oyekan said the education intervention scheme was designed to foster academic pursuit, knowledge acquisition among students, and lessen the financial burden on parents and guardians.
Continuing, he said: “The bursary programme will further complement the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund(NELFUND) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.

Hon. Oyekan charged the 5-man Bursary Committee to deliver equitable and transparent services to students across the local government area.
The Chairman of the Bursary Committee, Hon. Moshood Mayegun stated that the bursary scheme will encourage learning among students and ease financial stress.
Speaking on behalf of the committee members, Hon. Mayegun pledged to deliver on their mandate and uphold the trust reposed in the 5-man committee.
The operational guidelines of the Bursary Committee include:
Screening and verification of eligible applicants
Fair and inclusive distribution of bursary across the political wards
Accurate record keeping and submission of reports on disbursement and impact
Transparency and accountability in all stages of the disbursement process.
The 5-man Bursary Committee is made up of:
1. Hon. Moshood Mayegun – Chairman
2. Dr. Shakirudeen Idowu Lawal – Secretary
3. High Chief Ayodele Ayodeji Oyekan – Member and Representative of Traditional Rulers
4. Hon. Olusegun Adedeji Howells – Member
5. Mr. Iyun Aromire Abiodun Oladunjoye – Member
