The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his support for Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, endorsing his aspiration during a consultative visit that later extended to Mushin after an earlier stop at the APC Party secretariat in Ikeja.

Obasa, speaking at his residence where party leaders and stakeholders gathered, said the decision to back Hamzat aligns with the party’s directive, assuring full mobilisation of grassroots support.

“We in Agege, are one. And we will mobilise all of us to support you to victory,” he said. “We want to assure you that we are all in support of what the party has decided.”

Hamzat and his team had earlier met with party executives at the Lagos APC secretariat in Acme, Ikeja. There, the delegation was received by the state Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, who described the outreach as a model for other aspirants.

Presenting Hamzat to party members, Senator Musliu Obanikoro described the visit as a “homecoming,” noting that consultations had been deliberately extended to key stakeholders across the state. “Our coming here is deliberate,” he said, adding that Hamzat’s credentials position him to earn the party’s full backing.

Addressing party faithful, Hamzat said the consultation process had reached a stage that necessitates deeper engagement with critical stakeholders and political leaders.

“We have been to prominent political leaders and Lagosians. We have met them to seek their support,” he said. He stressed the strategic importance of Lagos, warning that the state’s stability is vital to Nigeria’s survival.

The party Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, in his remarks, called for stronger party cohesion and recognition of loyal members. He urged that those who worked for the party during campaigns should benefit through employment and empowerment programmes. He also advocated for equitable distribution of infrastructure and social amenities.

It was a rousing reception in Mushin as Hamzat arrived to a massive crowd of supporters, party members, and political leaders. The reception was spearheaded by Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Solomon.

Addressing supporters in Mushin, Hamzat described the area as politically significant. “This is my territory. I am part of you. We have been to places, but Mushin is special. This is the root,” he said, urging residents to turn out massively for the elections.

On his entourage were: Senators Musiliu Obanikoro and Ganiyu Solomon; husband of the Ogun State Deputy Governor and party chieftain at Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Alh Bode Oyedele; immediate past Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala; the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works, Engr Adekunle Olayinka and his counterpart on Religious Matters, Dr. Jebe Abdullah, among others.
