Former Chairman of Agege Local Government, Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, and House of Assembly aspirant, AbdulAzeez Yusuf, popularly known as Ninolowo, have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) reports thegazellenews.com
Thegazellenews.com reports further that the duo also emerged as the party’s candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly for Agege State Constituency I and II respectively.
The duo had earlier contested as APC aspirants for the Agege state constituency tickets respectively, in primaries where Oluwagbenga Abiola Omaco and Enimakure Akindele Sakiru emerged as the APC’s candidates.
Findings showed that Egunjobi emerged as the APM candidate for Agege Constituency 1 through a substitution primary held on Thursday, 17 September, 2026 polling 138 votes to clinch the ticket unopposed, according to the party’s result sheet.
Yusuf similarly secured the APM ticket for Agege Constituency 2, polling 11 votes to emerge unopposed in the exercise held the same day.
Both results were signed by the party’s returning and collation officers at the APM Lagos State Secretariat in Alapere, Ketu, as part of processes leading to the 2027 general election.
With their emergence, Egunjobi will now face his former Vice Chairman, Gbenga Abiola, APC flag-bearer for Constituency 1, while Yusuf takes on Shakiru Enimakure, APC candidate for State Constituency 2.
Efforts to reach Egunjobi and Yusuf for comments on their defection proved unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
