The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled a platform, ‘One ADC Movement,’ to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
The platform unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday, is designed to rally members around unity, discipline and shared political purpose.

Speaking at the unveiling, the National Coordinator of the movement, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, described the project as a deliberate effort to reinforce solidarity across the party’s structures while discouraging actions that undermine collective progress.
According to her, the movement emerged from the conviction that the strength of a political party lies not in individual ambitions but in the unity of its members.

“This Movement was created to strengthen the bonds within the African Democratic Congress, to encourage reconciliation where there are disagreements, and to remind every member that our collective future is greater than any individual ambition,” she said.
She outlined the core objectives of the platform, stressing that the group would work to deepen loyalty within the party and heal internal rifts that sometimes trail primaries and internal contests.
“We will promote unity across all structures of the party. We will encourage loyalty to the collective decisions of the party. We will support reconciliation after primaries and internal contests. We will discourage anti-party activities that weaken our shared platform. And we will mobilize Nigerians who believe in democratic values to join and strengthen the African Democratic Congress,” she said.
Onochie told party faithful that the mission of the new platform goes beyond electoral calculations, arguing that enduring political organisations are not built only when elections approach.
“Great political parties are not built only during election seasons. They are built through consistent organization, discipline, and unity,” she stated.
She explained that the philosophy behind the One ADC Movement rests on the belief that unity is the strongest political asset any party can possess.
“The One ADC Movement is built on a simple but powerful principle — that unity is the greatest strength of any political party.
“A political party is not merely an election platform. It is a community. It is a family. It is a gathering of people who believe that together they can build something stronger than themselves,” she said.
As part of its grassroots push, she said the movement would channel energy into youth participation, women’s empowerment and the strengthening of party structures across the country.
“We will engage young people. We will empower women. We will support party structures. And we will ensure that every member of the African Democratic Congress understands that their voice matters and their participation is essential,” she said.
Driving home the message of the gathering, Onoche framed the unveiling as the beginning of a broader campaign to consolidate the party nationwide, adding, “the message of today is simple but powerful: One Party. One Vision. One Movement. One ADC.
“When members stand together, the party becomes stronger. When the party becomes stronger, it becomes better positioned to serve Nigerians.”
She added that the launch marked the starting point of what the promoters intend to grow into a nationwide movement.
“That is why today’s unveiling is more than a ceremony. It is the beginning of a nationwide movement for unity within our party. I want to sincerely thank the leadership of the African Democratic Congress for their guidance and encouragement.
“Let us carry this message of unity across every ward, every local government, every state, and every community. Let us build bridges where there are divisions.
“Let us strengthen the structures that will carry our party forward. And let us prove that when members stand together in unity, no challenge is too great and no goal is beyond reach.
“Today we unveil a movement. Tomorrow we build momentum,” she said.
Also addressing the gathering, former National Chairman of the ADC, Ralph Nwosu, urged Nigerians to move from complaints to political participation, declaring that the party must become a vehicle owned and driven by citizens themselves.
“We say we don’t want to continue complaining. We don’t want to continue to complain. We have decided we will oblige the Nigerian citizens to own the ADC, so that no more complaining. Let everybody take action,” he said.
Linking the initiative to the country’s political future, Nwosu expressed optimism that a citizen-driven ADC could play a defining role in the next electoral cycle.
“And the action is, instead of letting Nigeria to die, in 2027, Nigeria must arise and shine. In 2027, Nigeria must arise and shine. And by the grace of God, now that the citizens of Nigeria have taken over the ADC, it’s not about who is the chairman, secretary, who is that, or no,” he said.
He added that the party leadership had deliberately stepped back to allow broader citizen participation and ownership, adding, “the leadership of the ADC has been very deliberate. They don’t want to stand on anybody’s face. They want the Nigerian citizens to take over the party. David Mark, being a military tactician, a disciplined military tactician, decided, don’t stand in people’s face.”
