The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, on Thursday, 11 December 2025, officially declared open the 2026 Budget and Annual Procurement Retreat held at Osmark Hotel and Suites, off Akala Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The retreat brought together top government officials, procurement officers, department heads, partners, and key stakeholders to deliberate on the fiscal and governance direction of the local government.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman described the retreat as a defining moment in Alimosho’s governance journey, noting that the decisions taken would shape the future of grassroots development and impact the lives of millions of residents.
He emphasized that the 2026 budget, tagged “Budget of Restoration and Renewed Progress,” reflects the administration’s resolve to rebuild trust, restore confidence, and accelerate inclusive development.

The Chairman explained that the budget is designed to restore the dignity of governance at the grassroots, rehabilitate critical infrastructure, and revive economic opportunities for youths, women, and artisans. He further stressed the importance of rebuilding community confidence through responsive, transparent, and accountable governance structures that deliver tangible results to the people.
Beyond restoration, the Chairman stated that the 2026 fiscal plan is aimed at renewing progress that is sustainable, equitable, and measurable across all wards in Alimosho. According to him, the administration remains committed to ensuring that governance is felt in every household and that development outcomes are visible, inclusive, and impactful.
The Chairman noted that the 2026 budget is firmly anchored on the administration’s WISE Agenda, which serves as a guiding framework for policy formulation and resource allocation. The agenda prioritizes Welfare, Infrastructure, Service Delivery, and Empowerment, with initiatives such as the “Ounje Alimosho” half-price food market, strategic infrastructure development to stimulate economic growth, improved service delivery, and empowerment programmes for youths and women.
In his address at the Annual Procurement Retreat, Hon. Akinpelu underscored the central role of procurement in achieving development objectives. He described procurement as the bedrock of public service delivery, noting that when conducted transparently and professionally, it accelerates development, but when compromised, it erodes public trust and undermines progress.
He charged procurement officers and stakeholders to uphold due process, competitive bidding, proper documentation, fairness, and value for money in line with national and global best practices. He emphasized that every kobo spent must translate into real value for Alimosho communities and align with the THEMES+ development agenda of the Lagos State Government.

The Alimoso LG Chairman encouraged participants to engage actively during the retreat by sharing experiences, asking questions, and embracing innovative ideas that would strengthen the local government’s procurement framework. He also commended the organizers and facilitators for their dedication to capacity building and the promotion of ethical standards in public service.
In conclusion, the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s vision of building a more accountable, transparent, and responsive Alimosho Local Government.
He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the retreat would position the council to deliver a people-centered 2026 budget, drive renewed progress, and leave Alimosho better than it was met, while wishing participants fruitful deliberations and continued unity in service to the people.
