The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has received the MD/CEO of the Bank of Agriculture, Ayo Sotinrin in her office at the State House, Abuja.
According to the MD/CEO who spoke to State House Correspondents after the visit, the various initiatives by the First Lady in areas of agriculture have been yielding very positive results not only in enhancing food security, but also maternal and child healthcare.
Ayo Sotinrin noted that apart from addressing child malnutrition in the country, the scheduled launch of a National Community Food Bank program, recently announced by Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, it will also tackle malnutrition from source by promoting bio-fortification of food from the production stage.
Sotinrin stated that the meeting with Nigeria’s First Lady took place to work out final details on the roll out of the National Community Food Bank programme, he is optimistic that future generations of Nigerians would be healthier.
He explained that the ‘Every Home A Garden’, another initiative of the First Lady is also in focus for the bank as it seeks to further drive the food security agenda of the Federal Government by setting up a scheme for female civil servants which they can access through the ‘Every Home a Garden’ programme.
Recently at the 2026 National Traditional and Religious Leaders Summit on Health, the First Lady flagged off an advocacy and awareness campaign for the National Community Food Bank programme, designed to address child malnutrition in the country.
