Gunmen on Sunday, 23 June, 2024 invaded Kakangi ward in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State and killed four vigilante members and a Mobile Police Force (MPF) officer.

A lawmaker representing Kutemeshi constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, who confirmed the incident, added that apart from the victims, there were other villagers abducted from their farms around Sabon Layi.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan also confirmed the killings.

“When we received the information that bandits attacked people on their farms, the divisional police officer and the hunters posted in the area mobilised and repelled the attack.

“In the process, three local vigilantes and a mobile policeman were killed. Several bandits were also neutralised and others escaped with bullets wounds,” Hassan said.
