The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, on Thursday, 12 February, 2026, commenced the online registration exercise for 250 beneficiaries of the council’s free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms.

The initiative is aimed at supporting indigent and brilliant students across the council area to pursue tertiary education without financial constraints.

The online registration exercise, which is being coordinated by the council’s Education Department, is designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and accessibility for all eligible applicants.

The Head of Department, Education, Miss Olufowobi A.O., explained that the process will allow qualified candidates to register and complete their registration at a designated centre within the community.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Benson stated that the free JAMB form scheme is part of his administration’s “Hi-SEE” Transformation Agenda, which prioritizes human capital development through education, skill acquisition, empowerment, and employment opportunities. He noted that investing in the education of young people remains a strategic step toward building a prosperous and self-reliant community.

The Chairman explained that the programme was introduced to remove financial barriers that often prevent many talented students from registering for the UTME. He emphasized that the council remains committed to creating equal opportunities for every child in Imota LCDA, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Hon. Benson urged eligible residents, particularly secondary school leavers and prospective UTME candidates within the council area, to take advantage of the opportunity. He assured residents that the selection process is merit-based, with priority given to indigent students who meet the required criteria.

He also disclosed that the council has put in place a monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure that only genuine residents benefit from the initiative. Community leaders, school authorities, and relevant stakeholders, he said, have been engaged to guarantee a credible and transparent selection process.

Some parents and community stakeholders who spoke on the programme commended the council chairman for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. They noted that the rising cost of examination forms has become a burden for many families and praised the council for stepping in to support the education of their children.

Among the dignitaries present were the Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele; Vice Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; Council Manager, Mr. Akinyemi Olusegun; Head of Department, Education, Miss Olufowobi A.O; Clerk of the Legislative Arm, Mr. Amoda S.O; management staff, students, among others.

The free JAMB form initiative is one of several education-focused programmes being implemented by the BSA-BOJ administration in Imota LCDA. Hon. Benson reaffirmed his commitment to policies and projects that promote learning, youth development, and long-term socio-economic growth within the community.
