With barely 24 hours to the Accord Party (AP) governorship primary in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday, 9 December, 2025 officially joined the party
The Accord Party is scheduled to conduct its governorship primary on Wednesday, 10 December, 2025, making the Governor’s move strategically timed ahead of the exercise. Ahead of the announcement, several Senior Special Assistants on Media had already begun using Accord Party symbols on their social media accounts.

One of the Governor’s media aides, Oladele Bamiji, shared Accord Party symbols on his WhatsApp status with the inscription: “Imole Till 2030.”
Adeleke announced his decision during a stakeholders meeting held at the Banquet hall of the Government House in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

The Governor, who is seeking a second term in office, last week announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said, “I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6 as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.
“Stakeholders and residents of Osun state are aware of why we are taking this important decision. We intend to pursue a second term in office on the platform of the Accord Party to complete ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends which have been applauded at home and abroad.
“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens and workers’ welfare.”
Thegazellenews.com recalled that Adeleke recently resigned from the PDP, citing internal crises within the party.
According to a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, the governor formally withdrew from the party on November 4, 2025.
In the letter, Adeleke attributed his exit to the crisis at the national level.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the letter read.
Adeleke, who rose to political prominence through the PDP, expressed gratitude for the role the party played in his political journey.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party,” he stated.
