
The Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has named Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde as the Best Senator in the state, reports thegazellenews.com
This medium learnt further that the Senator who represents Oyo Central Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber will receive the prestigious award during the NUJ Press Week in Ibadan holding between Sunday, 12 October and Thursday, 17 October, 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman of Oyo State NUJ, Comrade Demola Babalola, the Oyo-born Lawmaker is being honoured for his sterling performance, Impactful representation and commitment to public service despite being a first timer in the Red Chamber.
The body acknowledged that since his election into the Senate, Senator Akintunde has sponsored and supported bills and motions that have positive impact on the citizenry across human endeavours.
Besides legislation, Senator Akintunde has also impacted positively on his constituents in particular and the people of Oyo State at large via impactful empowerment and capacity building programmes.
Akintunde is the current Chairman of the Senate Committee on South West Development Commission having previously chaired the Senate Committee on Environment.
