In a show of philosophy of religious tolerance among his subjects, the Emir of Jama’a in Kaduna State, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammad II, recently hosted Muslims and Christians to Iftar (breaking of fast), at his palace in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government headquarters of the state.

During the event, the emir said the get-together was intended to further strengthen the existing peaceful coexistence among those in the emirate.

The state Commissioner of Kafanchan Nuncio Authority, Mrs. Phoebe Sukai Yayi,  emphasized the role of peace in driving development.

Sukai Yayi noted the relative peace in southern part of the state compared to other areas and called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in identifying and rooting out bad elements.

She, then, prayed for peace, health, wisdom, and more fruitful years for the emir.

Also, the Chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Yunana Markus Barde, who was represented by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Mrs. Christy Usman Yori who described the Emir as a lover of peace, said the event was impressive considering the diverse group that attended.

Representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Rev. Ben Amos and Mallam Garba Alhassan respectively lauded the Emir as a peace champion.

They commended the efforts in fostering mutual respect and cooperation between Muslims and Christians. They also urged him to advocate for the swift completion of toad construction projects in Kafanchan, citing safety concerns that have lingered for almost three years.
