Famous American tennis player, Venus Williams, has made history by becoming the second oldest woman to win a WTA Tour-level singles match, reports thegazellenews.com
Williams achieved this feat after beating her fellow countrywoman Peyton Stearns at the Washington Open on Tuesday, 22 July, 2025.

The 45-year-old won 6-3 6-4 in the first round, as she defeated Stearns, who is world number 35 at the moment.
With this outcome of the match, Williams is now the oldest woman to win a singles match on tour since Martina Navratilova did at the age of 47 back in 2004.
Williams has now progressed to the second round of the WTA and ATP DC Open.
Recall that the seven-time singles Grand Slam winner, had gained entry to the tournament through a wildcard, had not played since March 2024 when she won 14 Grand Slams in the doubles alongside her sister Serena in the past.
