General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Dimeji Lawal, is optimistic the current squad will keep getting better as the season progresses, urging the club’s backers not to lose hope in the team.

Featuring on a radio station sports programme in Ibadan on Thursday, 24 October, 2024, Kabongo, as the ex international is fondly called, particularly assured that the goal scoring problem facing the team, will soon be over.

“On behalf of my Chairman, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, and the entire team, I want to appreciate all our supporters, fans and the media for their support so far.

“Yes, we all know we have a big problem in terms of scoring goals, which has also been given us in the team sleepless nights. But I want to assure you all that we will soon get over it, because the coaches, led by Gbenga Ogunbote, are working tirelessly to address the situation.

“We want our  supporters and fans to be patience with the players and keep supporting us . We had similar issues last season but we later overcame it, so all we need is their continued support,” stated the forrmer Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles and Super Eagles’ pacy winger.

Butressing his points,  Kabongo cited the case of Christian Pyagbara  as an instance, reminding the fans how long it took him to start scoring after which he didn’t stop hitting the target.

“It took Pyagbara some time to settle down and start scoring, so in the case of Samuel Ayanrinde and other strikers, I want to plead for patience from the fans, like I said, the coaches are working on them,” he said.

Lawal also added that most of the newly recruited players were gradually getting used to the atmosphere at the Lekan Salami Stadium, which is quite different from where they came from, promising the fans of an improved team in subsequent matches.
