The Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, has distributed 13,000 exercise books to participants of the ongoing Season 2 of the Olugbani Summer Classes across various learning centres in the council.
Hon.Jimoh who visited some of the centres on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, presented 60-leaf exercise books to pupils and students participating in the programme, with the initiative targeted at supporting their academic development.
He also encouraged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, maintain good conduct and avoid habits that could jeopardise their future, including stealing, drug abuse, smoking, drinking and involvement in gangs.
The Chairman urged the pupils and students to complement their classroom learning by reading regularly and assisting their parents with household responsibilities after returning from the summer classes.
He further advised them not to engage in unhealthy competition or envy their peers, stressing that discipline, hard work and commitment to education could open doors to successful careers.

According to him, children from communities such as Badia can attain great heights when given the right support and when they remain focused on their education.
He equally urged candidates who could not gain admission into the universities not to be dispaired, informing that there opportunities at Yaba College of Technology, where they could acquire profitable skills equivalent of higher education.
At Badia Nursery and Primary School and Ireti-Owoseni Nursery and Primary School, the chairman personally supervised the distribution exercise. A major highlight at the Badia centre was the presence of the APC House of Representatives candidate for the 2027 general election, Hon. Muftau Egberoungbe, who joined in distributing the exercise books to the beneficiaries.
The Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Mrs. Fadekemi Otitonaye, led the distribution at Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Marine, while the council’s First Lady, Alhaja Kikelomo Layeni-Jimoh, supervised the exercise at Orile Nursery and Primary School, Ire-Akari Nursery and School, and Metropolitan Nursery and Primary School, Sari-Iganmu.
The council helmsman also promised that outstanding pupils and students would receive additional educational support, including free school bags, T-shirts and other gifts, as incentives for academic excellence.
The initiative is part of the council’s efforts to provide educational support to children and young people during the long vacation, while equipping them with learning materials and encouraging them to develop positive values.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunity provided by the summer programme and remain committed to their education, noting that today’s pupils could become tomorrow’s doctors, engineers, lawyers, administrators and other professionals if they remained focused and disciplined.
